FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How long does the ADHD testing take at Focus Forward?
The evaluation process includes three simple steps: a one-hour virtual initial consultation, a 15–20 minute Qbtech assessment completed on a computer from home, and a second one-hour virtual session to review your results and recommendations. Most clients complete the entire process within two weeks, depending on scheduling, and receive a written report within a few days after the final appointment.
Do you accept insurance?
We are a self-pay practice. The total cost of the evaluation is $499, billed in two payments of $249.50 at each appointment. Upon request, we can provide an itemized receipt (also known as a superbill) for you to submit to your insurance provider for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
What is Qbtech and why do you use it?
Qbtech is an FDA-cleared, computerized ADHD testing tool that measures attention, activity level, and impulse control using objective, validated technology. During the assessment, your performance is measured in real time, including movement and focus, to provide clear, data-based insights.
We use Qbtech because it adds an important layer of objectivity to the clinical evaluation process. Instead of relying on self-report alone, it provides measurable results that complement the clinical interview and history, helping support a more accurate and well-rounded understanding of symptoms.
How are appointments conducted?
All appointments are conducted virtually for convenience and accessibility. Both the initial clinical interview and the final feedback session take place online through a secure telehealth platform.
The Qbtech testing component is also completed from home on your computer. During your first appointment, we will walk you step-by-step through the entire process so you feel prepared and supported at every stage.
What ages do you evaluate?
We evaluate school-aged children, adolescents, and adults (ages 8-60). If you're unsure whether an evaluation is right for your child's age or situation, feel free to reach out before booking and we'll help you decide.
What happens after the testing process?
You'll receive a written report with clinical impressions and recommendations. You can share this with your primary care provider, psychiatrist, therapist, school, employer, or university. We'll also discuss this during your feedback session.
Do I need a referral?
No referral is needed. You can book directly through our website. Many clients come to us through self-referral, and we also welcome referrals from primary care providers, psychiatrists, therapists, and schools.
What if the testing shows I do not have ADHD?
That's a valid possibility and ruling it out can be just as valuable as a diagnosis. Our testing process uses both a clinical interview and objective Qbtech testing to help answer this question.
If you are wondering about other neurodivergence such as autism, learning differences, or giftedness, we may recommend a more comprehensive psychological or neuropsychological assessment and can provide trusted referrals.
